搜尋器巨擘Google 近來幾項針對搜尋器更新，對做SEO 可帶來一些啟示。
先是上年8月開始進行，現時開始見效的一項名爲Caffeine的更新。Caffeine 是針對更新速度越來越快的網上內容，如blog、twitter、facebook、微博等等。
Google 軟件工程師Carrie Grimes 表示：「Caffeine是應對日益澎漲的網上內容以及新媒體對網絡的影響。 當中內容不限於文字，更有影片及相片。令網絡內容更複雜。」
此舉動令Google 獲取資料的時間快50%，使搜尋結果更新、更快。換句話，在千千萬萬個社交網站中，秒秒更新的內容，將更有效 地在搜尋結果中反映。要搶關鍵字位置將須要更努力，在各大社交站作法。
另外，Google 最近又進行了名為May Day 的更新，主要針對用家所用的搜尋關鍵字越來越長(long-tail queries)。更新後，長關鍵字的得分將比以前高。如此會影響關鍵字排名，對無就長關鍵字作SEO 處理或欠缺內容的中小企比較不利。
最近，Twitter 被冠以增長最快的搜尋器，每日達8億個搜尋，已經超過Bing及Yahoo。雖然，Twitter 的搜尋是只Twitter 內的內容，但內容住住帶用家去其他網站。所以，絕對不能少窺。
“Content is King” 的道理始終不變，而且須要更好更快。花巧無謂的網站設計已經落後了，無論搜尋器或用家，要的都是user friendly、快捷、有用的訊息。否則，Facebook、Twitter、微博等簡便的網站不會，紅到發紫。一站 式的入門網站，卻慢慢被收入博物館？做SEO、網頁設計一定要謹守。

早前 Google, Yahoo! 及 Microsoft 共同宣布支持一個新的 tag： canonical （標準？正準？）。canonical tag 是用於指定一個網頁的「標準網址」，旨在改善內容重複的問題。
